After finishing second in the voting last year, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has won his first career NBA MVP award.
Sixers Star's Accomplishments
Embiid beat out Denver's Nikola Jokić and Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo in the voting, becoming the first Sixer to win the MVP award.
The Philly big man had a phenomenal season, averaging 30.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
Emotional Acceptance
Embiid was surrounded by his teammates when he learned he had won. He was visibly emotional as he accepted the trophy and gave a speech.
