The Celtics' Depth Proves Too Much for Dallas
Luka-Kyrie Duo Struggles as Celtics Ground Mavs Bigs
The Boston Celtics' depth proved to be too much for the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night. Despite a strong start from the Mavs, the Celtics took control of the game in the second half and cruised to a 118-100 victory.
Celtics' Bench Outplays Mavericks' Reserves
The Celtics' bench was a major factor in the win, outscoring the Mavericks' reserves 45-18. Danilo Gallinari led the way for Boston with 18 points off the bench, while Malcolm Brogdon added 14 points and Derrick White chipped in with 11.
Luka and Kyrie Struggle
Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks' star duo, struggled to get going in Game 1. Dončić finished with 20 points on 6-of-17 shooting, while Irving scored just 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting.
Celtics Ground Mavs Bigs
The Celtics also did a good job of limiting the production of the Mavericks' big men. Christian Wood was held to just 15 points, while Dwight Powell scored only 12.
The Celtics now have a 1-0 lead in the series and will look to take a 2-0 lead when they host Game 2 on Thursday night.
