Messi Scores Five Goals in Friendly Rout
Argentina's Star Forward Equals Personal Best
Messi Leads Argentina to Dominant Victory
Lionel Messi put on a goalscoring masterclass as Argentina thrashed Estonia 5-0 in a friendly on Sunday.
The Barcelona forward scored five goals, equaling his personal best in a single game for the second time in his career.
Messi opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a clinical finish from the edge of the box. He added a second just seven minutes later, curling a free-kick into the top corner.
The 35-year-old completed his hat-trick in the 25th minute, tapping in from close range after a cross from Angel Di Maria.
Messi continued his scoring spree in the second half, netting his fourth in the 45th minute with a powerful shot from outside the area.
He completed the rout in the 73rd minute, coolly slotting home a penalty after he was fouled in the box.
Messi's five-goal haul takes his tally for Argentina to 80, equaling the record set by Gabriel Batistuta in 1998.
